We all want to continually improve our performance, our results, and our skills. Many professionals I work with have been in sales for so long; they rely on their years of experience to deliver their pitch. What changes, is the product/service, the industry, and the customer. The content changes and by practicing, sales professionals can overcome plateaus and polish their pitch before pitching it for the first time in front of the client.
We can probably all agree that training does provide the value and results, but it seems like the only time we practice is when we are made to during training. When was the last time you scheduled the time to verbalize and practice your sales pitch? Do you work with your manager or hire a sales coach/trainer to practice and to improve the very thing that will enhance your performance and your results?
I am currently training for my first marathon, and I can read, research and understand all about marathons, but I will never be able to complete one unless I do some actual running. You might understand your product, you might know the content, but unless you practice the sales conversation, your performance will not be as polished as it would be if you have made some time to practice.
You are the master of your schedule, try scheduling some time to practice verbalizing your pitch, or work with someone to practice. The results you will get include increased confidence, increased knowledge which lead to improved performance.
